Stupid ass rant
I think we should really separate "beats" from "songs" because I feel like
a lot of people mix the two, meanwhile they are different.
A "beat" is a piece of music someone sings lyrics along. Listening to it by itself
will not invoke the emotion the lyrics were trying to get you to feel.
A "song" is a full blown composition. It tries to invoke a mood, to make you feel something.
For example, a song could be sad, a song could be happy, a song could be melancholic, etc.
Most importantly, it has a melody, it has something to give you.
I am not saying that songs should not have lyrics, they can. What I'm saying is we need to
separate songs with a melody and a emotion they're trying to invoke from beats that a rapper
sings to.
Also, it really puts me off in a way to see people looking at producers and thinking
it's all trap beats and whatnot, because it isn't.
People have different tastes.
(P. S. sorry for the shameless plug LMAO)
